NJIFC Condemns Bomb Threats and Hate towards the Palestinian-American Community Center
June 3, 2021
The member organizations of the New Jersey Interfaith Coalition (NJIFC) condemn the recent bomb threats and graphic and hateful language directed at staff members of the Palestinian-American Community Center (PACC) in Clifton, New Jersey in a series of increasingly harassing phone calls on June 1. We stand in solidarity with the PACC and the Palestinian American community’s right to express their views and live their lives without fear or intimidation.
We also condemn the recent surge of violent hate crimes in NJ and across the nation.
We call upon people of all faiths, views and backgrounds to join us in speaking out against any threats or violence against the Palestinian-American community. We are heartened to see elected officials in New Jersey, including NJ Governor Murphy, and several faith groups issuing statements condemning this hateful act and expressing solidarity and support with members of the Palestinian-American Community.
NJ Interfaith Coalition is committed to respecting the dignity of all human beings and stands against hate and bigotry of any kind with a continuing commitment to the "Stand Up for the Other Pledge" as a key principle in promoting unity and understanding among people.
As faith leaders, we cannot allow any acts of hate, including the century old Tulsa massacre to go unnoticed or we risk the growth of indifference to intolerance. As a Coalition, we will continue to speak out against all forms of hate, bigotry and violence as we have done in the past.
